Yes, I Am Offically Nuts..Four Weekends In A Row!

First of all, welcome to my new followers Bryan, Lisbet, Jenni, Rachel, Heidi and Stacy!!

Well, it has been a week already. Sunday, I just rested....that means I did nothing:) I was a little sore from Saturday's rain run and thought that I deserved a day off. Monday night I got out and ran an easy three miler. I also did Jeff's 100 push-up challenge. I can now do 44 to 45 depending on the session and how tired I am. I sort of suck at this and might have to do an additional week to get to a respectable number. Congrats to James and Boomer! These two studs have already surpassed the 100 push-up goal:) I like them both...so I will try not to be jealous! Tuesday Kay had a varsity track meet and we did not get home until after 8PM. I was not able to get a run in...bummer:( Today, I had every intention of running a ten miler. Yea, that did not happen. Sadly, I was not feeling energized or motivated. I ran eight miles at an 9:30 minute mile pace...that is one minute slower per mile than what I usually run on my training runs. I just didn't have it in me.

Tonight Kay had another track meet...this time JV. She rocked it:) She took first place in the 400 meter dash!! Last night at the varsity meet she ran the 400 and took fifth place. She also ran in the 4 by 400 meter relay and her relay team took first! Tomorrow she has another varsity meet and she has to run the 400 meter dash again.

I was looking forward to having a weekend off from racing. Jenn at Running Sane left me a comment about running again this weekend. I was thinking, Jenn, what and the hell are you talking about I have this weekend off? I quickly looked at my racing schedule and freaked out just a bit!! Holy cow!! I have another half marathon on Sunday!! Panic has officially sunk in! What and the hell was I thinking when I signed up for all of these races? Good Lord....I signed up to run in the Lake Minnetonka Half Marathon! I have heard from several runners that it is a tough course with several challenging hills!! Oh crap.....seriously, I am feeling a little beat and am wondering if I should just run it as a training run or if I should try like hell to go super fast and try to PR again. I don't know if I will be able to pull it off. The good news is that there are pacers again...the bad news is that there are no pacers working for the goal time of 1:55. I don't know what to do and probably won't know what to do until race day. I am open for suggestions...please:) I am hoping to make it up to St. Cloud on Saturday to run with my running group...possibly run an easy 4 to 5 miles! I don't want to do anything super crazy due to the half marathon on Sunday.

After my Golden Valley 10K a few weeks ago I was left a comment from Rocco at Run Minnesota. He has been kind enough to post the last three of my race recaps in his blog:) I have been able to find so many other cool Minnesota bloggers because of him! Thanks Rocco...you rock!

I have been shopping for things for my, Woo hoo, I have 100 followers giveaway!! I will have all of the details sometime next week:)

I hope that everyone enjoys the rest of their weeks! Happy running, swimming, biking, lifting or whatever makes you happy:) Cheers to you!

  5. Hi Julie,

You PU numbers are very respectable! In fact my wife just told me she is jealous of your arms and shoulders from the pic above!

You aren't crazy for doing another race. You are a runner and just doing what you do ... so go out there and have a great time!

  10. First... thanks for the shout out and good job on the pushups.

Ok, so congrats goes to Kay! Good job, Kay.

Wow, you really are putting in some racing time. You ask, "am I nuts". Well, the truth is anyone who engages in extreme exercise is, at least, a little nuts. That said, its alright to take a break if you need it.

Anyway, you have a couple more days to make a decision to run the half marathon. If you decide to run it, I look forward to your race report.

  11. 100 push-ups! Good for you!

Another race! That would provide way too much anxiety for me. I can handle one race a month at max :).

    Have a great day! :)

  12. Good luck. Last summer I was on a roll where I did about 7 in a row and might have continued but I went on vacation! I did enjoy all the races.

  13. Julie, whatever makes you happy- so race your little butt off! Have a great weekend!

  14. Wow, I like that you can handle all this racing! But a little break soon, OK?:) And how fun to run with speedster Jenn!

  15. That's a lot of racing back-to-back. Wow.

  16. I'll be doing four tri's in a row come summer. Looks like we are both nuts!!!

  17. Wow, your daughter is really doing great! Congratulations! If you feel a bit tired, run the race as a training run. More time on the legs can do wonders. I run many races, but race very few. I stay injury free like that as well. I believe slow races help a lot with endurance.

  18. Good luck this weekend, girl! You're crazy! And awesome job with the pushups!

  19. You GO GIRL!! So many races!! I do the 5k's every saturday but that is nothing like doing half after half after half and maybe a couple of 10ks in there....WOW!!

Thanks for your comment on my post!! Can't wait for the giveaway for 100 followers!!

  20. You ARE crazy girlfriend! I could never do that, mentally or physically. But good for you! As to your pace this weekend--I would make a game-day, even mid-race call on it. See how you are feeling and then follow that instinct. Good luck!

  21. Good going on those pushups! I can do only 25 at a time now, and not more than 50/day. Also hoping to get to 100. It is a slow process but I will get there.
And yes, you are nuts in a very inspiring sort of way.

  22. Yowzas girl- good look on the race this weekend! I can't believe you can do over 40 pushups in a row- that is amazing! I followed the 100 pushups workout for a while and got to doing 20 in a row max. I was still pretty proud of that :)

  23. Seriously, how do you forget a half marathon? I don't think I could ever forget that! Great job on the pushups!

  37. You're not crazy. Just got a little race happy. Happens to the best of us ;)

Hopefully your half goes well! It seems like with all the racing/training you've been doing you're well prepared. I hope you don't feel too burnt out during it and can rest after.

  41. Yes-you are a crazy girl! I am more along the lines of 4 races a year!! Totally wishing you the best of luck in the race tomorrow! Concentrate on your form on the hills so you don't waste precious energy and you'll be fine! I could run the Lake Minnetonka half and just get lost dreaming about living there..lol!!

Congrats to your daughter! She is doing so well!

Can't wait to read the race report!
