Short and Sweet!

Hello fellow blogger friends! Yes, I am still alive! I have been crazy busy with life in general:) Also, I have been kicked off of our computer so many times due to Kay's homework and my hubby's fantasy sports stuff. Anyhow, I am back. I promise that tomorrow I will play catch up on everyone's blogs! I feel so bad because you all know how much I love to leave you comments! Thank you so much for all of the wonderful comments that I have received from my last post.....I really appreciate them and they always make me smile:) They also make me feel so loved!! I took Sunday off from running but still managed to do my push-up challenge homework! Jeff, I promise you that I will post my stats on Saturday! I have been very faithful to my plan and have been doing my daily workouts! Monday evening I went on a six mile run and it felt terrible. My legs felt like they weighed one-hundred pounds and my mojo was no show for the night. I managed to keep a nine minute mile pace. Like I said, it was crap! I really wanted to keep a 8:30 pace but I just couldn't do it. Tuesday evening I went out again and took a different running route. I only ran four miles but this run was felt so much better than Monday's. I attempted to focus on my speed and I felt like I was doing a much better job at keeping my breathing slow and regulated. Tonight was gorgeous and I was so excited for this run. I headed out to the Rice Lake Trails and ran around the lake. It was so beautiful. I think so many other runners had the same idea....tons of runners out tonight:)

After I ran around the lake I ran a two mile cool down, making my total for the evening seven miles:) My plan for the rest of the week is to basically run every night. Saturday morning I will drive to St. Cloud to run with the running group:) I have one more week before my next 10k....I have some work to do.I hope that everyone enjoys the rest of their week!! Congrats to Jill, Glenn, Georgia Snail, LMC, Jennifer, Ajh, Jon, JF, Colin, Sarah; Johann and Rick for doing so well at weekend races!! Woo hoo for all of you who PRd!! I enjoyed reading all of the race recaps:) Cheers and happy running!!

    The 10K will be a breeze :)

  4. Great Job on your race! I've been so behind but I did read your recap! I'll be in St. Cloud this weekend! Maybe I'll see you run by! My husband sometimes gives me compliments on my toned arms but I'm certain its a precursor for something else. Seems to work,!! Where's the 10K?

  5. Where did you find that shirt!? Vintage Top Gun, that's when I loved Tom Cruise, before he got all nutty. Nice Guns, gotta love it when the husband's pay attention and give props for all the hard work!

Nothing like a run in beautiful weather!!

    : )

  6. Love the TOPGUN! yeah baby;-)

  7. Great job on the "trifecta" (3 in a row)of runs. Doesn't everybody feel like crap for a Monday run?! You'll be fine by the time your 10K comes. I'm glad to see your husband's fantasy sports (baseball) take priority for computer usage! Yes, I love playing fantasy baseball myself. Maybe it's time for a laptop for you and Kay to share?! :-) Have a great rest of the week.

  8. Seems that you are enjoying all the training. Well done for sticking to the push-ups. I won't be able to carry on with it like you. Good luck with the 10k! That shirt is cool!

  9. That trail round the lake sounds beautiful, where getting close to nature draws out the best in you. Good luck in your next 10K.

  10. That shirt reminds me of one thing, "Your body is writing checks IT CAN'T CASH!" know, when Maverick is getting chewed out in the mean guy's office?

Funny, that quote sometimes relates to running...hmmmm....

    Nice runs!

  11. Love the outfit! Great job on the runs!

  12. Great shirt, when you out it on did you, "Feel the need, the need for speed!"

  13. You're lookin' great Julie! TOPGUN for sho! :)

  14. you look so cute and tough (top gun) in your outfit. nice week of training. i am impressed that you are able to run everyday. i just made it up to 5 days/week this year:)

  19. I love training by lakes

    Hace fun at your 10k

  20. That run by the lake sounds great. Looks like it's on hardpacked dirt, is it? And you are an awesome commenter on so many blogs. Everyone appreciates it, I'm sure, and notices when you are gone!

  21. Did you happen to come across Tom and Val when you "earned" that shirt? Man, they'd make me run faster!

You are the blog commenter queen, girl! Wherever I pop over, there you are having commented like hours are AWESOME!!!

  22. Does the Top Gun shirt make you faster?

  23. Super cute outfit!! Sounds like you had a fantastic run!!
    Good luck on your 10k!!

  24. Thanks for all of the great comments guys:) I loved the movie Top Gun and saw it in the St.Cloud theater 7 times when it first came out! I loved Tom....this was before he got wierd:)

Molly, I got my shirt at Kohl's for $7.

Jamoosh, no, sadly the shirt does not make me run faster:)

Jon, I love that scene when they are getting chewed out for the crazy flyby:)

Jeff, when I think of Top Gun I think of that quote.... I Feel the need, the need for speed!

  25. Too funny. I watched part of Top Gun last week cuz it was on TV. I loved it when it was new and I watched it like 100 times on VHS.

Glad to hear your feeling better on the runs. Keep it up!

  26. Great job on the push ups! Show us those guns.

  27. So cute! That training is paying off. Good Luck with the upcoming 10K. I have one on sat in Mobile, AL. FUN - I hope.

  28. That was one of my favorite movies growing up! You look so cute in your running gear. :)

Don't sweat the fact that you can't keep up, I'm constantly playing catch up!

Have fun in your 10K and good luck to you Julie.

  29. Hi Julie,
I do hope you'll enjoy your training on Saturday morning with the running group :)

In the comment you left on my blog last Friday, March 19, 2010, you asked me the recipi of "Zeppole", the most common pastry treat for Father's Day in Italy. The word zeppole comes from "zeppelin." This gives you an idea of how much the pastries puff up during frying.
As request, I write this recipe here below:

    2 cups water
    10 oz granulated sugar
    3 tbs olive oil
    1/2 tsp salt
    2 cups flour
    2 large eggs
    1/4 cup light, white wine
    oil for frying
    powdered sugar

1.Mix water, sugar, and oil in a heavy
saucepan and bring to a boil.
2.Mix flour into boiling water all at once.
3.Remove from heat and begin whisking or
stirring with a wooden spoon until the
    mixture forms a mass.
4.Return to low heat and cook 5 minutes,
    stirring constantly.
5.Remove from heat, and add eggs 1 at a time.
Beat vigorously after each addition or the
    egg will cook.
6.Add wine and beat the dough until satiny.
7.Grease a countertop or board with oil.
8.Turn out the dough and pat down flat.
9.Fold sides over on itself so there are 3
layers. Repeat this five more times.
10.Heat oil in a large pot or fryer.
11.Take about 1/3 of dough and roll out in a
log, to the thickness of your thumb. Pinch
    off a tsp size piece.
12.Place 3 or 4 at a time into boiling oil.
13.Turn and fry until golden on both sides.
    14.Drain on brown paper.
15.Place into a paper bag and sprinkle
powdered sugar over them. Close the bag and
    shake to cover with sugar.

Note: Some cooks like to form the zeppole into rings, more like a donut. You can add ground sage, ground bay leaf, and other savory seasonings to the batter. Instead of using white wine, try Amaretto liquor or Marsala wine.

Have a nice training and a nice weekend.

  30. Sounds like it's time for a laptop for Julie?

  31. Thanks so much for the congrats! And don't worry about a bad run. I've had more than I can count. You'll bounce back. Good luck w/your next 10k. I know you'll do great!

  32. Woot for toned arms and for the hot skirt!
I'd LOVE to have you on our team in Chicago! Let me know before those fill up too!:)

  33. I went and checked out one of your giveaways and forgot to comment! I think you are very fast but it is all relative. You know what is fast for you. I got your commment about the camera for my dear Jameson. He is too funny getting people to beg for him!

  34. Thanks for the kind comment on my post the other day.

I also have really sarted getting into trail runs, it's something different, but always afraid of twisting an ankle!

    I also dig the shirt!

  35. Oh my gosh, I have to copy that recipe someone just put in your comments, yum! Anyway, you are such a glamorous runner and blogger and you are beautiful inside and out...your husband was very sweet and smart to compliment you too! Have some great runs this week and this weekend with your running another 10k too. Busy lady....but you better keep sharing your computer! That made me laugh!

  36. Great runs! You are ready to ROCK your 10k!

  37. Hey Julie,
You look great which compliments the fact that you are so thoughtful! Good job sticking to your challenge. That can be hard when you have so many other demands on your time. Have fun this weekend with your running group. You'll do great on your 10K! Enjoy!

  38. I like the navy skirt!

looking forward to earth day . . . it is always a really fun race. :)

  39. Great job Julie, keep up the good work!

  40. "Oh Rick, what the hell is it with guys and ponytail girls? I just don't get it:)" Oh Julie, it's weird. There's just something about a girl with a ponytail running that looks so....well, nice! I really can't explain it. Maybe it's just seeing the effort being put forth causing the ponytail to bounce around?! I guess it's something that needs to be analyzed by a shrink! Glad you have a sense of humor about it. :-)

  41. You look lovely, as usual! I'm liking the skirt-keep it up!!! Great job on your training week - the 10k will be cake. I would love to talk with you about the gluten-free stuff anytime - I have been trying it out for about 5 weeks - I think it is helping (maybe it's just wishful thinking but I really do think it is helping!). I have been having some seemingly weird physical things going on the past 7 months or so, and this is one thing I am trying out to help. Here's a great blog to check out that has tons of info and recipes:

  42. Love your running skirt! I missed catching up with you while I was gone, but I'm glad to see that your are doing great! Have fun running with your group!

  43. Great Job Mav

Now get your butt back above the hard deck and get back to base.

Viper wants to see you in his office

  44. Great job getting back out there. What is your push-up challenge you are doing? Thanks for the nice post.

  45. I'm not sure why, but I think that top gun shirt is awesome!! :)

way to crank out the miles even though your legs weren't feeling it. Sometimes just getting out there is victory enough.

  46. Headin' into twilight
    Spreadin' out her wings tonight
She got you jumpin' off the track
    And shovin' into overdrive

    Highway to the Danger Zone
    I'll take you
    Right into the Danger Zone

Good luck with your 10K and take us into the Danger Zone, will ya?

  47. I know a TON of people have already said this...but I still feel compelled to tell you how much I love your running outfit! So awesome! So cute! I want one ;)

I'm looking forward to hearing about all of your upcoming races!
