San Francisco and Wine Country Here I Come!

I just wanted everyone to know that I will be MIA until late Monday afternoon. Mr. Julie and I are heading out tomorrow morning for San Francisco. We will be picking up my race packet early and then have an exciting night out on the town planned:) Saturday we are driving to Sonoma to get settled into our very nice hotel. My plan is to hit the expo and then just relax. After the half marathon on Sunday morning we are off to go vineyard hopping! My wish for this half marathon is to run a relaxed and slower than pace run. I am thinking about coming in at 2:10 or so...we will see. I know that I will really piss my hubby off if I go faster than that and my co-worker will kill me! I value my life so I am just going to have a fun and enjoyable run through wine country:) I have two cameras ready to roll!

Anne Marie, I wish that we could do a meet up...maybe another time. Good luck with your race, I am sure you are going to do great! Good luck to all of the other people racing this weekend! I am looking forward to reading all of the race reports:)

Happy running, biking, swimming and lifting! Cheers to you all!

  9. Hi there!
Do go vineyard hopping! And...btw my Ironman Dude is a winemaker and his tasting room is on the Sonoma Plaza!! So you have to at least go in there and say hi/check it out. It's Highway 12 Winery Tasting Room on the corner of First St E, and Napa St. It's in the same bldg as the Corner Store.
Tell em' Anne Marie sent you;-)

  19. Last year's Expo at that half marathon was terrible so you have to take pictures and tell us all about it since I heard it is MUCH MUCH MUCH better this year. Basically last year, they had packets and then a table with some nasty hydration drink I've never seen anywhere else, a table for Team Challenge and event gear you could purchase. That was it! So disappointing for my first major race :) Good luck and enjoy- the run is beautiful out there!

Remember that pace is all relative...2:10 would be a huge 11 minute PR for me :)

  32. Julie,

I will look for you on Sunday.

I can't make it up there on Sat and don't plan to stay in a hotel so I would be driving up in the am (assuming I go). I'm planning to pick up my bib on race day, but that always worries me.

  34. Have fun in SF Julie! I love the SFM course...it is so scenic. Bring a camera and take some pictures. That will prevent you from running too fast. Enjoy wine country too. It is indeed one of my favorite place on earth! Enjoy.
