It is a t-shirt kind of post for sure! I am so excited because I got this awesome shirt in the mail from Italy! Yes, that is right, I said Italy! One of my Italian blogger friends sent me a cool Race for the Cure t-shirt from a race that he didn't run in. Stefano, thank you so much! This is such a big deal for me as I am a big fan of all things Italian:) I have two Italian blogger friends named Stefano and Giorgio. They are both so nice and I enjoy reading both of their blogs:) They are both members of the Black Knight Army! If you want to find out more about this fantastic running group you will need to visit their blogs:) Let them both know that I sent you...they both love comments:)
This next t-shirt is one of my favorite t-shirts that I purchased from my friend Nikki. Nikki is a SCRR who ran in the Boston Marathon. She took several St. Cloud River Runners t-shirts to Boston with her and had Ryan Hall sign them:) Well I scored one of them! My college boy asked me if he could cut off the sleeves and use this t-shirt as a workout shirt. I asked him if he valued his life:)
I thought that I might give you a track girl update. Sectionals did not go as well as we hoped. Kay did not jump to her ability and unfortunately did not place in the top ten. I saw two of her jumps and her approach looked off to me. This first picture is of her track coach attempting to give her a pep talk and trying to get her to settle down.
This is actually one of her practice runs. After her third jump she just broke down and started crying. She felt like she let her coaches down. I reminded her that she still has four years to run track and that she should feel pretty proud of herself for getting to run varsity as an eighth grader. I also reminded her that she lettered:) She is the type of athlete that always puts 110% into everything that she does...she knew what she was capable of jumping and that is why she was so frustrated. She has her end of season track dinner next week and then the following week cross country starts!
This last picture is of me in my very cool St. Cloud River Runners running tank compliments of Kalli:) Thank you Kalli, I feel like I am a real River Runner now!
As for my running this week...
Tuesday...6 mile run close to race pace.
Wednesday...easy 9 mile. I was attacked by a flipping bird running around Rice Lake! It scared the crap out of me! Apparently there are signs around the lake that I have never noticed....Beware of the Birds! Seriously, WTH! I have never had issues with the freaking birds before!
Thursday...6 mile run.
Friday...easy 3 miler.
Tomorrow I am going to Minneapolis to pick up my race packet for Sunday's Team Ortho Half Marathon. I have no idea what pacers I am going to run with and will not know until race morning. My blogger buddy Nate is pacing the 1:45 pace group...that might be just a wee bit fast for me:) Do me a favor and send me out some run fast vibes at 7 AM! I am hoping to see Rachel who is also running the half marathon. Average A is running the full marathon and I am planning on watching her cross the finish line! Good luck to you ladies:)
Happy running, swimming, biking and lifting:) Cheers to you all!

ReplyDeleteand i just realized your napa half over here in cali is on the same day as my Vineman Half Ironoman tri. wah!! hopefully though we can connect sometime on fri or sat?
cheers!
Luck, luck, luck on the 1/2. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAwesome shirts, Julie! I like your response to your college boy. It made me laugh! So sorry to hear about Kay's jumps, but like you said, she has time and she will improve! I'm also happy that you're running a half marathon on Sunday! I'll be running a speedy 4 mile race so I'm definitely going to send you speedy vibes as I'm running! Haha! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI hope Kay's feeling better now, she hasn't been doing it long so with a bit of time hopefully she'll be proud she got so far so quick!
ReplyDeleteHave an awesome run...
ReplyDeleteThat first shirt is popular here in Honolulu. We have the Susan Komen Race to the Cure here too.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter is a true athlete. I have been a football coach for more years than I can remember. There is now way she can disappoint her coach. Any athlete that gives a 100% is a blessing to any coach. I am sure here coach appreciates and respects her.
Great pictures, have a great run and an awesome weekend!
ReplyDeleteI've seen your comments on some blogs we both follow and came to take a look. What caught my eye immediately was your blog title: high heels and lipstick to Asics and sunscreen. I thought: is she talking about me because that's who I am.
ReplyDeleteA runner but addicted to my high heels too.
Good luck on your half marathon, I hope I run one one day too.
If you feel like it and have time, feel free to visit my blog someday www.dutchgirlgetshealthy.com
Attacking birds...? Wow! Great t-shirts. Good luck with the half and have fun.
ReplyDeleteLOL on the birds - Worst bike crash of my life was from being attacked by magpies while riding. Concussion and ambulance ride followed.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on Sunday, have fun!
ReplyDeleteHave a great race!! Very cool shirts!
ReplyDeleteWas it geese? Them birds are EVIL.
ReplyDeleteYou scored some great t-shirts! I would love to know more about the bird. I had just been thinking about runs where I wouldn't have to worry about snakes (not a big problem, just me worrying) but I would never even think about birds! good luck in the half.
ReplyDeleteSending positive race vibes .... alright I am back, hope you received them!
ReplyDeleteThat sucks for you daughter but is cool to see a youngster have that type of passion! The good news is that sometimes you need to realize failure to know how much harder you must work. Should be a great life lesson and when she does succeed in the future it will be that much better because of the adversity she had to overcome!
Love the Italian shirt--you look great in it! You also have a cool singlet in your running group.
ReplyDeleteSending you good vibes for tomorrow! Rock it!
Awwww, that is too bad about the little one. BUT, I suppose you can look at it as a learning experience. Hopefully she has a summer full of acftivies planned!
ReplyDeleteI love the Italy shirt, didn't know they have the race for the cure there as well! Very cool!! Good luck on the half and I'm looking forward to your race report :)
ReplyDeleteI'll make you a deal: I'll think run fast vibes for you, if you think run fast vibes for me!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on Sunday! I look forward to your race report - they're always great!
The only time I felt that I was attacked by birds on a run was in an area where some endangered birds (i forget which ones) were nesting and the mom was aggressive with visitors too close to the nest. I found out what was going on later because it was in the news. I decided to avoid that area that year!

I would have peed my pants if I got attacked b a bird!
ReplyDeleteGood luck tomorrow. I've heard that race is hilly! :)
Julie, you're on a Team Ortho facebook photo album. Hopefully the link works!

Was it a red-winged black bird? Those suckers are mean, I got attacked by one (for my hair) running by my parents house a couple years ago. I to this day remember getting home and telling my dad and our neighbor about it and they laughed at me!
ReplyDeleteHi Julie!!! I wear only race shirts (or UNC and Phillies) and love them!!! I love showing em off!
ReplyDeleteLOL at your son's comment. One of these days I'm going to do a post about my running t-shirts. I think you'll enjoy the Minnesota love ;)
ReplyDeleteVery cool you have Ryan Hall's sig. Good luck in your half! I'm impressed with how many races you do!
thats a great t shirt collection you have there julie!
ReplyDeleteyour daughter appears to have your look of determination!
Speaking of t-shirts, I saw a picture of you posted on the Team ortho Facbeook page of you holding up a shirt that said "Does this t-shirt make my butt look fast?" It was from packet pick-up yesterday! Too funny!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your support, good luck with your half this morning (!!!! 1:51!!?), and hope to see you in a few hours!!
I'm glad that you like Stefano's T-shirt :) We always run the "Race for the cure" in Rome. As you know, it's a race in support of a social cause.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the half Marathon!
When you are young, its so easy to get let down by high expectations! BUT, its a great learning experience for her, and she'll be a veteran before she knows it!
ReplyDeleteBird attacks seem to be on the rise up north. Perhaps some running armor is in order :-)
I love your shirt. The Black Knight Army posts are so fun to read!!!!
ReplyDeleteYay for awesome shirts! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you were attacked by birds! That would have completely freaked me out!
I'm sorry about your daughter's track meet. That must have been so sad for her. :(
I hope you had a great half marathon! I can't wait to read all about it!
Hey Julie! I hope your race went well. I saw you in the Team Ortho pictures on Facebook.
ReplyDeleteThere's a great photo of you on the Team Ortho Facebook page! I hope you had a great race! I can't wait to read about it.
ReplyDeleteThe Race for the Cure shirt from Italy is so neat!
Cute post, that tank is great!! I can't wait to hear how your half went!! Are you doing red, white and BOOM?
ReplyDeleteThat is AMAZING that Kay is on Varsity as an 8th grader. And she's lucky to have you as an inspiration for so many things.
ReplyDeletethanks for linking my giveaway!
