Hi everyone! I know it has been five days since my last post! I have been busy with Kay's basketball and track. Track is coming to an end and this week was her conference meet. Kay has been running sprints for varsity but she actually went to conferences for the long jump. She just attempted it for the first time two weeks ago and found out that she is the second best jumper for Maple Grove:) Who knew? She has sectionals next week...Go Kay! I have been able to run every single day since Saturday. Here is what my training week looked like...
Sunday...4 miles, slow and painful! The humidity and heat was harsh! I ended up taking a few walk breaks.
Monday...6 miles, slower than race pace but still painful:)
Tuesday...6 miles, close to race pace but doable.
Wednesday...6miles, slower and steady. I was ready to be done after this one!
Thursday...6 miles, hills, close to race pace. Hot, painful and yuck...this one hurt:)
Friday....off, rest day!
Saturday....a longer run:)
I have no race scheduled for this weekend but I am driving to St. Cloud to run with my SCRRs running group. I will most likely also try to make it to part of the Sartell Apple Duathlon. There are several SCRRs competing in this event! Good luck to Nikki, John, Shannon, Amy, Pam and I am guessing there are several others:)
Next weekend I do have a half marathon on the books. I am running in the Team Ortho Minneapolis Half Marathon! This is the last race that I will compete in before my official marathon training begins. I love competing so much that I am going to try to fill my weekends with races that fit into my marathon training schedule:)
I am offically getting kicked off of the computer by my hubby:) Happy running, biking, swimming and lifting! Cheers to all of you!
Good luck to Heather and Tony who are running the Madison Marathon and also to Anne who is running her first half marathon in Canada!

Way to go Kay! Good for her..that's awesome!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a good rest of the week and a fun run with your running group! :)
Oh I know all about kids and sports. Go Kay! She sounds like she's just as busy as mom is.
ReplyDeleteGood luck in your half next weekend!
Thanks for the shout out! Have a great run in St. Cloud this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a fun, race-free weekend and rest up for your half. It's so exciting to think that your full marathon training is starting, you're going to LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Julie!
Have a great time running with your group! My marathon training starts the second week of June! Will be fun to at least know others out there are doing it too!!
ReplyDeletehave a great weekend julie
ReplyDeletebe careful not to put too many races into your marathon training..they can tire you out when you're supposed to be putting much more into training
Congratulations to your daughter and good luck at sectionals! Have fun in St. Cloud!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!!! Good luck to your daughter :)
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend Big Sis!
ReplyDeleteGo Kay!! Enjoy your weekend off, well kinda off. :) I'm excited about marathon training and am looking forward to following your progress. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteJust play this weekend. Woohoo!
ReplyDeleteKay is doing awesome! Congrats to Kay!
Have an easy weekend of running. I hope that pain goes away.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your raceless weekend. Have fun with your running group.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend! Enjoy your run.
ReplyDeleteGood job Kay...what a great athlete!
ReplyDeleteHave a great time with your running group Julie and I can't wait to follow along with your marathon training :)
Way to go, Kay! That is awesome!
ReplyDeleteHere's to a great weekend with your running buddies, and best of luck in your half next weekend!
Way to hang in there with the heat. It makes a normally easy mileage run feel 100 times harder but you are stronger for doing it. All good ways to look at it but overall, it does hurt. I like your idea of getting in as many races that fit into your marathon training plan. Good thinking! Best of luck to your daughter with all of her training and events. Have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your daughter's success at the long jump!
ReplyDeleteYou must have a nearly identical schedule to mine because I'm running the Minneapolis Half as well!!!
Also, I must have missed the post about the marathon announcement?! Glad to hear you this! I so wish I had time to run a full this year.
Hope you have a great long run this weekend!
You are going to watch all these peole do the Du and want to get a bike yourself and give it a try, after you get the bike, next thing we know you be training for a tri. I can see it
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your daughter! Have fun with the river racers : )
ReplyDeleteHooray for Kay!
ReplyDeleteenjoy your race-free weekend!
Wow - great running you did this week! Nice work Kay!
ReplyDeletehave a good weekend
-D
I always include races as part of my training on weekends when possible. I love it but you need to take it slow and not race all of those. Enjoy your running!
ReplyDeleteA week without a race? Have fun with the SCCR. Let them know the Lake Wobegon Trail Marathon was awesome!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'll see you at the Team Ortho half. I'm pacing the 1:45 half marathon group. I'll be at the expo at the pacers' booth from around 10 until 4 in the afternoon.
Have a great weekend run with your pals! Sounds like it's going to be a nice one.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday:)
Congrats to your daughter...enjoy these "unofficial" miles before the actual training begins!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend. You are racking up the miles :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you ran on Monday...must have gone early or late considering the heat?
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Kay on her track success!
You should check out the Como Zoo sometime this summer...the polar bears are back in their new home and it's opening to the public in June. Como is a bit sad because the habitats are smaller, but they do have a few of the bigger animals (giraffe, zebra, lions) though that kids like...bet your son would enjoy that this summer!
What?! You're not racing this weekend?! Enjoy the non-race run!
ReplyDeleteI'm still working on my marathon training plan, but I'll let you know what I come up with. Let me know what you figure out too!
How awesome for Kay! Isn't it funny how you can be good at something and never know it because you've never done it???
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the weekend off from racing :) Have a great holiday!
ReplyDeleteWe haven't quite hit that spot yet, as Jones isn't quite in the totally competitive soccer yet.
ReplyDeleteBTW, you won, check out my blog. ;o)
Have a wonderful weekend and a Great run!
ReplyDeletelol - "and now I'm getting kicked off of the comp" too funny
ReplyDeletehave fun with the group run this weekend!
Hey Julie ... Nice mileage this week, you are going to so rock the mary!
ReplyDeleteGo Kay! It must be fun to watch her compete in a sport that you love too.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your little race break and your long run w/ the crew. Have a great long weekend!
Have a great, hopefully relaxing weekend!!
ReplyDeleteYay to your daughter, Julie!! So great for her!! I know May is totaly nutsoid, I sometimes think it's worse than December! You are so awesome to keep plugging away with the miles, girl! I got my first dose of heat today, too, and think I melted part of my body away (don't I wish!!!! - hahaha) so I totally can relate to the difficult couple days, but so glad it kept getting better and better! Enjoy your race-less weekend, Julie :)
ReplyDeleteKids sports keep me running too! But I have to admit....I love it!
ReplyDeleteHope you're planning on having a restful and relaxing holiday weekend!
ReplyDeleteTraining with the running group is so much fun. I usually meet with a group on Saturdays and the time just flies by! Good luck next weekend on your half marathon!!
ReplyDeleteGo Kay!! Woot woo :) Julie PLEASE don't hurt yourself. Take it easy with your runs. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteway to go on some very steady days of running!! I have a couple fun giveaways for an $80 CSN card and some chocolate going, thought I'd let you know!
ReplyDeleteLife has gotten in the way of posting to my blog too so I know exactly what you mean. However, it looks like you had a pretty good training week. I am looking forward to your half-marathon race report.
ReplyDeleteWooo go Kay!! Sounds like she is doing really well, must take after her Mum!
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the running group. Thanks for your kind works - it really makes my day!!
ReplyDeleteYour last training week seems excellent, Julie! You did two of those workouts at a good difficult level. I think you'll see fitness gains because the body is challenged significantly.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy this restful Sunday :) Of course, we needn't to run a race every week. So the race's atmosphere won't become routine.
Good luck on your next half marathon :)
I just love Minnehaha Falls, too! It's so crazy to me that there's a waterfall in the middle of the city!! It's so beautiful! I just noticed that you ran Get Lucky, too! Shame on me for promoting Team Ortho races -- you already know what you are in for! ONE BIG PARTY!!! Just to let you in on a little secret for trying to catch me at the finish... I'll be wearing my bright yellow Brooks uniform (it's SO BRIGHT and the fit is terribly unattractive, you cant miss me!!). I'm *hoping* (fingers crossed) to finish around 11:15am!! I'm going to start in the 4-hour marathon corral and keep up with the pacers as long as I can... I know you're faster than that, but I'll keep my eyes open for you at the start! I'm so excited, but pretty nervous! I really hope we have some nice cool weather next weekend. I'd even be okay with a little rain. :) Have a great week, and enjoy your Memorial Day, Julie!!
ReplyDeleteNo race this week end? Ahhh lazy woman!!! Forza Kay (it means go Kay).
ReplyDeleteHey Julie!
ReplyDeleteCool about your daughter being the second best jumper and making it to sectionals. You mentioned that you're going to start training to run a marathon. When is it?? I don't see it listed in your "Future 2010 Runs." Hope you had a good running group run. Have a great 4 day work week!
