Hi Everyone! This is going to be short and sweet! After my 20 mile run I took one day off and got right back into my shorter 4 to 7 mile runs. My legs actually felt pretty darn good the next day. I was expecting to be very sore and possibly experience some after shock cramping. I felt great and was able to bust out a 5.5 mile and kept up a 7:58 pace! Where and the hell did that come from? Maybe the cooler temps are making it easier for me:) At any rate, I am loving it! Good-bye to heat and humidity:) This week I have gone out on two easy shorter runs. I ran these both slower than normal and kept up a 9:15 pace. This mornings run was a little rough...I was low on energy.
This weekend I am running in a fantastic 10 mile race in Minneapolis. It is called Women Run The Cities....this means no guys allowed! I loved this race last year and had a blast! It was my first and only ten mile race up until this weekend. I remember thinking, will I be able to make it the whole ten miles? I ran it easy or so I thought...my final time was 1:23! I was so thrilled and happy with my performance. I know that I will not be able to do as well as I did last year. I have not been running any of the shorter races and have lost a little of my speed. That is what happens when you become a half marathon junkie:) My plan for this weekend is to run it easy and hopefully be able to finish it in 1:30 or less:)
Well, that is all that I have for now! Happy running, biking, swimming and lifting! Cheers to you all!

I love women only races... so much fun and empowering!!! Good luck at the race this weekend, I am sure that you will do great!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds so fun. I like the races geared toward women - especially if it is women ONLY! I haven't done a women only race yet, but totally would if I had the opportunity. Nice worth with all the running. I'm going to aim to be more like you! :)
ReplyDelete~RR
I need to do a women's only race.
ReplyDeleteSounds fun!

ReplyDeleteGood luck in your "sexist" race!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteHaha, Jamoosh! Have a blast, Julie. You're getting so speedy, fall is definitely agreeing with you!
ReplyDeleteI sent ya an email last night. Was good to see you today :).
You are going to have so much fun at that race, I did an all female one several years ago, it's a very cool vibe. Good luck, and have fun!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are doing so well, Julie! Way to go! I love hearing that your runs are going well, and that the weather is making running life easier on you. I am sooooooo looking forward to that. What is up with Kansas still being hot and humid this late in September? Ugh!
ReplyDeleteHave a blast at the ladies-only race! Can't wait to hear about it. Miss you!
Have a great weekend - it sounds like you are feeling pretty good!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy that cooler weather! Jealous! How's the coolness affecting your GI issues?!? any better? I love women only events. They're chick magnets... HAHAHA! I killz me... Have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteYou might run faster! The half marathon training plays perfectly into the 10 miler:) Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great event. Have a fabulous time out there with all that running chick energy!
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the race - that's one I want to do someday.
ReplyDeleteWhoa now! A blog post without a race recap/PR! Are you feeling ok? ;)
ReplyDeleteHave fun and good luck in the girls only race!
You may surprise yourself on race day. Long runs make you faster sometimes!
ReplyDeleteCongrats for your great average pace! You've improved your speed, Julie :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your next 10 mile race in Minneapolis!
Post scriptum: thank you for the beautiful present! You're always kind Julie. I will wear it in your honor! Thanks again!
You are sounding pretty speedy to me! Have a great race!
ReplyDeleteHi Julie,
ReplyDeleteGood luck in the 10 miler this weekend. I was thinking about running that race too but decided since I was running the TC 10 next weekend that would be enough.
Are you running any other races this fall? Perhaps the Monster dash 1/2?
Julie
Nice recovery run!
ReplyDeleteI love doing races the second time around
-Derek
You are going to rock that "sexist" race. All that hard work is paying off.
ReplyDeleteHave fun at the race. I love all women races. There is a great half marathon here in November. Can't wait to see all the pics you will take!
ReplyDeleteSend the cooler weather my way, I am hoping it pumps me up too.
ReplyDeleteHave done 1 female only race and it feels different. You are on a roll - have fun!
holy speed post long run that is awesome! I love all women's races and just signed up for a 5k here!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how girls will gravitate to the women's only races, but I would have no interest in a mens-only race. How gross would that be? Probably the stinkiest race on Earth for starters.
ReplyDelete10 miles is a great race distance, enjoy it, take plenty of pictures!
And keep enjoying this fall weather, perfect time for a runner.
Good luck on your race this weekend! Can't wait to rad your race report and see some pics :)
ReplyDeleteGreat 20 miles! And even better that you felt so good afterwards, that shows your training is working well for you. Good luck with the 10 miler this weekend! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteWell hi there stranger! Nice fast run! Its this cooler weather. (S)low (S)summer; (F)ast (F)all.

Hi;)
ReplyDeletewow...look at all your mileage!
AND have a great time at your 10 miler!!
That fast workouts is a good omen for the race on Sunday.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds to me as if your running is going exactly as it should at this stage. Good luck and enjoy the race! Here in SA Guys are allowed in women's races if they dress like women for the race. This is for fun only and competition is open for women only.
ReplyDeleteHello there :)
ReplyDelete10-milers are my favorite...have fun!
Good luck on the 10 miler! I really want to break 1.30 in my 10 mile runs but I can't seem to crack it! There's a 10 mile race in January near me, I'm very tempted to give it a go!
ReplyDeleteGreat pace Julie! I've got you on my first race shirt!
ReplyDeleteA race only for women?z? Count me in! That sounds awesome! Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteI was planning on doing that 10 miler this weekend, but my in-laws will be in town from Toronto, so it just didn't work out. I hope you have a great time!
ReplyDeleteJulie, you are really getting STRONG and fit, that's why you're able to pull off these runs. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHave a super race this weekend!
It IS the cooler temps!! You’re totally faster now. Go get it!! 90 minutes or bust!!
ReplyDeleteHave fun this weekend. I had a ladies run last weekend and I like it a lot, it's much more relaxing then when it's with men.
ReplyDeleteI love it too now it's cooler, my time is improving and running is much easier than during Summer.
I'm always happy when Julie has a new post. How funny was Jamoosh's comment! You know, I am a new Blogger, it will be interesting to hear all the people who complained about the the heat who will soon complain about the cold. I'm not saying you!
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful that your recovery from your 20 mile run was so easy. You are doing great! All of your hard work is paying off. I hope you have a wonderful race this weekend!
