What Have I Been Up To & What Is Next?

Hi Everyone! This is going to be short and sweet! After my 20 mile run I took one day off and got right back into my shorter 4 to 7 mile runs. My legs actually felt pretty darn good the next day. I was expecting to be very sore and possibly experience some after shock cramping. I felt great and was able to bust out a 5.5 mile and kept up a 7:58 pace! Where and the hell did that come from? Maybe the cooler temps are making it easier for me:) At any rate, I am loving it! Good-bye to heat and humidity:) This week I have gone out on two easy shorter runs. I ran these both slower than normal and kept up a 9:15 pace. This mornings run was a little rough...I was low on energy.

This weekend I am running in a fantastic 10 mile race in Minneapolis. It is called Women Run The Cities....this means no guys allowed! I loved this race last year and had a blast! It was my first and only ten mile race up until this weekend. I remember thinking, will I be able to make it the whole ten miles? I ran it easy or so I thought...my final time was 1:23! I was so thrilled and happy with my performance. I know that I will not be able to do as well as I did last year. I have not been running any of the shorter races and have lost a little of my speed. That is what happens when you become a half marathon junkie:) My plan for this weekend is to run it easy and hopefully be able to finish it in 1:30 or less:)

Well, that is all that I have for now! Happy running, biking, swimming and lifting! Cheers to you all!

  2. That sounds so fun. I like the races geared toward women - especially if it is women ONLY! I haven't done a women only race yet, but totally would if I had the opportunity. Nice worth with all the running. I'm going to aim to be more like you! :)

  7. You are doing so well, Julie! Way to go! I love hearing that your runs are going well, and that the weather is making running life easier on you. I am sooooooo looking forward to that. What is up with Kansas still being hot and humid this late in September? Ugh!

  17. Hi Julie,

Good luck in the 10 miler this weekend. I was thinking about running that race too but decided since I was running the TC 10 next weekend that would be enough.

Are you running any other races this fall? Perhaps the Monster dash 1/2?

    Julie

  23. It's funny how girls will gravitate to the women's only races, but I would have no interest in a mens-only race. How gross would that be? Probably the stinkiest race on Earth for starters.
10 miles is a great race distance, enjoy it, take plenty of pictures!
And keep enjoying this fall weather, perfect time for a runner.

  31. It sounds to me as if your running is going exactly as it should at this stage. Good luck and enjoy the race! Here in SA Guys are allowed in women's races if they dress like women for the race. This is for fun only and competition is open for women only.
